However, ever wished to change wallpapers throughout the day, rather than just switching the same one from light to dark. Well, iOS offers a nifty way to change your iPhone wallpaper automatically whenever you want to with the help of the Shortcuts app.

You'll never get bored of looking at the same wallpaper again and won't have to go to the effort of switching it manually. The following steps will show you how to use the Shortcuts app to automate changing the wallpaper on your iPhone.

How to use Shortcuts to automatically change your iPhone wallpaper daily

The process does involve quite a lot of steps, but it's guaranteed to be worthy. So let's check out the process:

  1. Add your favorite wallpapers to a Photos Album
  2. Create Shortcuts to change wallpapers automatically
  3. Automate your Shortcuts to change your wallpapers daily

Add your favorite wallpapers to a Photos Album

The first step involves saving your favorite wallpapers to a Photos album. To do this:

  1. OpenPhotos.
  2. Tap Library at the bottom.
  3. Then hitSelect at the top of the screen and pick all the photos you want to add to your Wallpapers folder.
  4. Tap theShare icon and selectAdd to Album.
  5. SelectNewAlbum, type in a name for it, and hitSave.Go to Photos and select photos to add to Wallpapers folder on iPhone

Your selected photos will now be in the newly created folder. The next step is to create a Shortcut that will change your wallpaper.

Create Shortcuts to change wallpapers automatically

The next step involves creating a shortcut for changing wallpapers automatically. This is done in the Shortcuts app:

  1. OpenShortcuts app.
  2. Tap + icon at the top-right.
  3. Search forFind Photo and tap the option when it appears.
  4. TapAdd Filter.In Shortcuts app search for Find Photo and tap on Add Filter on iPhone
  5. Then, tap Recents next toAlbumis.
  6. Now select theWallpapers album you created earlier above.
  7. Tap onSort By and selectRandom to make your device randomize the wallpapers.Tap on Recents and select the Wallpapers then Sort it by Random on iPhone
  8. ToggleONLimit and setGet Item to 1 so that only one image is displayed at a time.
  9. Tap on the + icon, search forSet Wallpaperand select the option when it appears.
    Choose whether you want to change the wallpapers for the Home screen, Lock screen, or both.
  10. TapShow More and toggle OFF Show Preview.
  11. TapNext and then give yourShortcut a name.
  12. FInally, you'll be able to see your created shortcut in theShortcuts app.Give your Shortcut a name and it will be in Shortcuts on iPhone

Automate your Shortcuts to change your wallpapers daily

The final step involves automating your Shortcut so that it can switch the wallpaper depending on when you want it to without any. Here's what to do:

  1. In theShortcuts app, tapAutomation at the bottom.
  2. SelectCreate Personal Automation.
  3. Here you will see a range of options of when you can make the automation run. For this tutorial, to automatically change your wallpaper at a specific time, tapTime of Day.
  4. Now you can selectSunrise,Sunset, or a custom time of day. We have pickedSunrise.
  5. Set it to repeatDaily so that your wallpaper changes every day with the sun.
  6. Then, clickNext.In the Shortcuts app Create Personal Automation and tap Time of Day on iPhone
  7. TapAdd Action.
  8. Search forRunShortcut and select the option when it appears.Tap Add Action and search for Run Shortcut on iPhone
  9. Next toRun, tapShortcut and select theWallpaper shortcut you created above.
  10. TapNext and then toggle OFF the option forAsk Before Running.
  11. FInally, tapDone.Tap on Shortcut and select created Wallpaper shortcut then toggle OFF option for Ask Before Running

Now, your iPhone or iPad will automatically change the wallpaper at the specified time each day by running the automated shortcut. You will also get a notification about it each time theShortcut runs.

To turn off these notifications, go toSettings →Screen Time →See All Activity.  Scroll down toNotifications. Tap Show More and then selectShortcuts. Then toggle off Allow Notifications.
